Clue Crypt
- Rounds I-X
TBC Clue I
Overlord: Sapphire Victim: Mr Brody
Killer: Mindy Winner: Rose
The first game of Clue ever to take place on the forums of TBC, which originally
started as 'Strip Clue', as a spin-off thread from the popular 'Strip Twister',
as suggested by GryffinRose. Surprisingly, the actual stripping was soon
forgotten, as the Cafe members quickly embraced their new game. Of course,
it could be speculated that the chance to delve into an icky, gruesome mystery might have
something to do with it, but anyone who cares to indulge in such speculation
tend to end up in future rounds of Clue. And not as the
Overlord. To begin with, the victim was declared to be the
traditional 'Mr Brody', from the more famous board game version, though that was
something that was soon to change... Mindy was eventually found to be the
killer, and her punishment for the crime was to have her rights to 'Calrissian
Bloom', TBC's favourite man-candy, revoked for a whole month.
The original 'Strip Clue' is available in the TBC Archives for all to view, to
see where this particular Cafe institution began, and the links to the two pages
of this thread are below.

TBC Clue II
Overlord: Rose Victim: Steven Spielberg
Killer: Sapphire Winner: Bragg
The first game of Clue being such a rousing success, a second followed not long
after - in the same thread, no less! The beginnings of the game can be
found at the end of the archived Clue thread above, though the game was
interrupted by the move to TBCs improved forums. It was decided that the murder
being investigated was that of Steven Spielberg, after hearing reports that he
wanted to make a Harry Potter film with the setting moved to America, and
starring Haley Joel Osment - an idea that seemed to cause physical pain in many
an area of the fandom. On this occasion, it was Sapphire who acted as
judge, jury and executioner for the fandom, dispatching the famed director
before being captured by the Ministry Aurors and sentenced to several minutes
hard labour for her crime.
TBC Clue III
Overlord: Bragg Victim: Warner Bros CEO
Killer: Rose Winner: Emma
No sooner had the killer of Mr Spielberg been found, than the killers moved on to those who were a little higher up in the
organisation; the heads of the Warner Bros film company. It seems
that a grudge was developing against the movie-makers! Rose was the
culprit this time, aided and abetted as always by her beloved husband, Severus
Snape. Eventually, the devious couple were brought to justice by
fizzing_whizbee (Emma). The TBC Killers' Club - a gathering of those found
guilty of TBC Clue's crimes - was formed at around this time, with their
sinister red buttons becoming more and more noticeable around the forums...
TBC Clue IV
Overlord: Emma / Bragg Victim: Chris Columbus
Killer: Sapphire Winner: Mindy
With WB seeming unable to deliver a Harry Potter film that the fans were content
with, there appeared to be only one possible course of action; send the Killers'
Club to eliminate the WBs' chosen directors, and take over the production of the
movies themselves! The first step? Elimination of one Christopher
Columbus, director of the filmed versions of Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of
Secrets. Sapphire became the first double-killer in the Killers' Club
during this round, adding Columbus' scalp to that of Steven Spielberg in Clue
II. This game was the first - and to date, only - occasion where
the Overlord changed in mid-game, with Bragg taking over from the ever- busy Emma.
TBC Clue V
Overlord: Mindy Victim: Alfonso Cauron Killer:
Bragg Winner: None
Clue V is sometimes known as the Lost Round of TBC Clue, as the game was in progress at
the time of the great forum crash of 2003, meaning that the game was forced to
be abandoned in mid-investigation. Such a quirk of fate means that Bragg
is, to date, the only member of the Clue Killers' Club yet to be brought to
justice! Cauron, director of Prisoner of Azkaban, was no doubt targeted
as the latest step in the quest to remove all directors from the HP franchise
until WB gave TBC direct control over the film-making process, another plan
that seemed to be derailed by the sad loss of the old forums.
TBC Clue VI
Overlord: Bragg Victim: Dolores Umbridge
Killer: Sockie Winner: Sapphire
After the TBC site and forums were re-established, one of the first things to be
asked was 'What's happening to TBC Clue?', so no time was lost in
re-establishing that grand old tradition. And what a return it
was. This time, Clue would return bigger and better than ever before, with
some small semblance of plot, and the introduction of Cassandra Thickquill; a
reporter with a grudge against the Cafe, and a strange desire to expose the
activities of the Killers' Club. Her presence only seemed to amuse the
detectives though, as she was always one step behind. Dolores Umbridge was
the victim of the 'crime' this time around, with the noted b*tch staging a
limited takeover of the Cafe in defiance of the Clue Crew's efforts to catch
her. Fortunately, her reign of terror was ended by the efforts of Sockie,
who killed the evil creature, and Sapphire, who made sure the deed was brought
to light. Sockie's 'punishment' for her actions? A two-week term in
a minimum-security facility in Hawaii...
TBC Clue VII
Overlord: Sapphire Theft of the Golden
Basilisk Thief: Alfonso Cauron and the Mexican
Bandits Winner: Bragg
Never let it be said that the Clue games were ever allowed to grow stale or
predictable. In that vein, it was decided that Clue VII would be a
special, 'themed' edition. In fact, this was decided long before Clue VI
was over, which just gave everyone extra incentive to solve that game all the
sooner! For the first time, the Clue games broke out of the GTDE Mansion,
and set sail on the S.S. Rosewood, to search down the stolen Golden Basilisk, a
mythical device made of gold, with the power to turn water into rum. New
cards and settings were devised specially for the occasion, with such amusing
characters as Commodore F. Unkiller, Admiral Samuel Snooty, and Captain Rum
& the Rum-Smugglers. A fleet of vessels were also under suspicion,
including the HMS Inexplicable, the S.S. Flotsam and the infamous Naughty-lus.
Bragg eventually realised Alfonso Cauron was the thief of the hour, making
Cauron the only TBC Clue victim yet to manage any measure of revenge for his
murder.
TBC Clue VIII
Overlord: Bragg Victim: David Thewlis
Killer: PrincessIvy Winner: Sapphire
When the S.S. Rosewood finally pulled back into port, it was to find yet another
mystery waiting for them on the shore; the Anti-Crumpet, David Thewlis, had been
found dead, no doubt another victim of fangirl disappointment. The
Clue Crew quickly mobilised to pick up the more traditional trail of clues, in
true Scooby fashion. However, the killer was less than impressed with
their efforts, even to the point where a note was found from them, mocking the
efforts of the detective team, and challenging them to get their work done
faster. Spurred on by this minor challenge, it was Sapphire that saw
through PrincessIvy's feeble efforts at looking innocent, leading both the
killer and her accomplice Will Turner to a cell in Azkaban.
Together. Oh dear.
TBC Clue IX
Overlord: Sapphire Victim: Cornelius Fudge
Killer: Isabella Winner: Bragg
Cassandra Thickquill, the usual reporter on the Clue games, took a back seat for this
round, as she was busy
investigating the TBC Crew themselves for a special report... (See the
Downloads section for that special edition!) Her deputy Tobias McClaggan
took over reporting duties in her absence, to give the inside scoop on the
murder of the moronic Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge. Isabella
proved no more able to appear innocent than PrincessIvy before her, admitting
that she lured the Minister to his doom with promises of ice-cream and
ego-stroking, before delivering a hefty whack with a Troll Club.
TBC Clue X
Overlord: Bragg Victim: Bellatrix Lestrange
Killer: Raven Winner: Sapphire
The tenth anniversary of TBC Clue was a huge occasion, heralded by a huge list
of suspects and the longest game ever, lasting a massive 9 months! For the
first time, the Overlord took a part in the game, holding back a couple of cards
to keep the plot moving along at strategic points, and mostly to keep
entertained during such a massive game of detection. Then-record numbers
of people were playing the game, and taking their own sweet time in finding the
killer of one Bellatrix Lestrange, the world-famous 'Slayer of Sirius'.
Raven was eventually found to have done the deed, killing her in the Basilisk
Stables using a Werewolf Fang given to her by Remus Lupin. For his part in
the crime, Lupin was forced to share Raven's cell in Azkaban.
