Golden Basilisks -
Rules
Much as we might all like
it to be different, contests like this need rules. Most of these rules
are simple common sense, and very few of them will come as a surprise to
anyone who has entered website awards before. Submitting a nomination
for the awards will be taken as an agreement to abide by these rules, and
anyone found to be breaking them will be disciplined as the TBC Crew deems
appropriate. (This may mean a deduction of votes, or disqualification
from some or all of your categories.)
If there are any
questions, please feel free to contact us, using the link at the top of the
left-hand link bar. If there is enough demand, an Awards FAQ page may
appear later.
Nomination Rules
1. Nominations for the Golden Basilisks are open until 11.59pm
(Central US Time) on 23rd July 2007. Any nominations received
later than this will be disregarded.
2. All sites entering the awards must be Harry Potter related, although
multi-fandom sites may also submit HP-specific sections for nomination.
3. All awards entrants must post a 'Golden Basilisk
Awards' link button somewhere on their site - obviously this should be as
prominent as possible, so that your members will notice the link and come to
vote for you!
4. Only a webmaster or co-webmaster may nominate their site, as we would not
wish for a site to be nominated without their consent.
5. Sites are free to be nominated for as many categories as they wish, with
the following restrictions -
i. A site can only be entered as a Domain or a Subdomain.
ii. A site can only be entered as either a Slytherin,
Gryffindor, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff Site, or a House-Neutral one.
iii. Any site that is obviously not equipped to compete in a category
should not be entered in it. (ie. The 'Best RPG' category is only open to
sites that actually run an RPG.)
6. The TBC Crew reserve the right to edit category nominations if the
restrictions above are not abided by. We also reserve the right to
disqualify sites from some or all categories in the event that other rules
are breached.
7. The decisions of the TBC Crew are final.
Voting Rules
1. Voting will commence on the 24th July 2007, and will continue until
11.59pm (Central US Time) on 19th August 2007. Again, any
votes received after this time will be disregarded.
2. Votes will be cast using a contact form on the website, where
visitors can select their preferred site in each category, and send their completed voting
form to the TBC Crew. Membership of TBC's forums or archive is not
required to place a vote.
3. To prevent users voting more than once, anyone placing a vote will be
asked for their email address. This will not be used to contact you,
and will not be passed on to anyone - it is only required to try and
minimise people trying to place multiple votes. All email addresses collected will
be deleted once the awards are complete.
4. If anyone is found to have voted more than once, their duplicate votes
will be cancelled.
5. When the votes are tallied, an award will be granted to the top 10% in each
category - so, if we get 10 or less entries in a particular category, then
there will be a single winner. 11-20 means there will be a First and Second Place award,
21-30 entries will grant an award for places 1-3, and so on.
6. The TBC
Crew will adjudicate in the event of a tie - there will be no shared awards.
7. As with nominations, the TBC Crew's decisions are final.
