Predictions Prize
Giveaway -
Rules
We may be Slytherins, and
have a healthy disregard for them, but there are some occasions where rules
have a purpose. This is one of them - running a one-of-a-kind
operation as ambitious as this would be impossible without them. We've
tried our hardest to make the rules for our prize giveaway as open and
accessible as possible, while still respecting people's online privacy,
particularly the privacy of our younger members. Unfortunately, this
means some of our younger members might not be eligible for certain prizes,
but we can't see how this can be avoided safely.
If there are any
questions, please feel free to contact us, using the link at the top of the
left-hand link bar. If there is enough demand, a Prize Giveaway FAQ page may
appear later.
Rules
1. Entry into the Predictions Prize Giveaway is open only to members of The
Basilisk Cafe - specifically, members of either the forums or the fanwork
archive. Watching the LJ Community, or joining one of our other
satellite communities, does not make you eligible.
2. Members are only permitted to enter the Prize Giveaway once - this entry
will be considered final, and will not be altered once received.
3. Predictions for the Prize Giveaway must be submitted to Predictions@thebasiliskcafe.net
by 11.59pm
(Central US Time) on 7th July 2007. (Please use the subject
line 'Prize Giveaway Entry'.) Any entries received
later than this will be disregarded.
4. All entrants for the awards must submit their name (optional), username (required), a contact
email, and their age (as of the 21st of July 2007) with their entry. Winners may be contacted after
the release of the book to ask for a postal address, as some prizes must be
posted. However, we do not intend to ask those under 16 for their
addresses, and will give members under this age preference for the web-based
prizes.
5. As not all members will be eligible for all prizes, it may be necessary
to deviate from the prizes listed on the Prizes page, depending on who wins
- for example, if most winners are under 16, it may be necessary to award
more web-based prizes than postal ones. As such, we reserve the right
to change the prizes listed if necessary.
6. All answers to the questions will be evaluated using the
Scholastic-produced, US edition of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Differences between international versions of the book will not be
considered grounds for appeal.
7. In the event a tie-breaker is needed, we will judge the quality of
entrant's Epilogue Predictions - as such, those who have made the most
ambitious, interesting and entertaining correct predictions will be
rewarded for them.
8. The Prize Giveaway is operated by TBC's webmistress, Sapphire - her
decisions are final, and appeals to other TBC Crew members will not be
successful.
