Paid
Accounts - Terms of Service
The
following terms and conditions govern the use of the TBC
paid account service. Please read these carefully
before deciding to take out a paid account - the paid
account service is offered subject to the acceptance of
these terms, and violation of the conditions stated below
may result in your paid service being terminated.
1. Your
TBC.net Account
There are three tiers of paid account service - Bronze,
Silver and Platinum - each of which offers different
benefits depending on the account level chosen. Each
of the accounts offers a small site hosting package (with
the amount of webspace determined by account level) and an
@thebasiliskcafe.net email address, and enhanced user
benefits for the TBC forums. In addition, we
can pre-install a variety of blog, wiki and image
gallery scripts when your account is set up, as outlined
on the Paid Accounts
page - please
note that these scripts are provided by their creators
without warranty, and that we can only provide them on an
as-is basis.
While
the hosting package is intended to be ideal for hosting a
blog, or a small website, subscribers are free to use the
space in any way they wish, providing the intended use
conforms to the Acceptable Use Policy below.
2.
Acceptable Use Policy
Each paid member is responsible for the content that they
post to their webspace, and for the content posted by
anyone else that they choose to allow posting
access. In order to ensure that all members - paid
and otherwise - enjoy a safe and pleasant community, and
to satisfy the terms and conditions of TBC's own webhost,
paid members are obligated to ensure that their webspace
is not used for illegal or anti-social purposes. As such,
please note that the following activities, and the posting of
information designed to facilitate such activities, are
prohibited:
-
Distribution
of Viruses, Trojans, or other malicious programs
-
Hacking
-
Phishing
-
Pornographic
Content
-
Posting
of Slanderous or Discriminatory Materials
-
Spamming
-
Violation
of Intellectual Property (Including posting of
torrents, or other filesharing.)
-
Other
Illegal Content (Including websites designed to
support fraud or theft.)
3.
Use of Services
While TBC will take all reasonable steps to ensure that
the content of paid member accounts does not breach the
above rules, it should be noted that we cannot take
responsibility for the content posted by paid members
beyond these stipulations. The views posted by
members do not necessarily represent the views of the
Administrators, and visitors to the webspace of paid
members do so at their own risk.
4. Fees
& Payment
All payments for TBC paid accounts are made through Paypal,
and can be submitted by clicking the 'Subscribe' link for
your desired account level on the Paid Accounts
page and following the instructions there.
When we receive the details of your registration, we will
contact you to ask for any further details we need in
order to set up the account, like the names for your
subdomain and email account, and any extra features you
need for your account.
In the event of the fees or payment terms changing, a
notice period of at least one calendar month will be given
before the new terms come into effect, in order to allow
accounts to be closed before the changes come into force
if desired. Notification will also be sent to the
registered email address for the account.
5.
Closure of Account
If you no longer wish to continue with a paid service,
please notify the Administrators of the site in advance at
their normal contact address, so that arrangements can be
made for your site to be backed-up and closed when your
paid time expires. In the event that a paid member
does not pay to renew their membership, the account
webspace will be closed immediately, and a backup of the
site sent to the lapsed member as soon as is practicable.
6.
Termination of Account
If the terms above are violated, particularly in reference
to the prohibited activities listed in the Acceptable Use
Policy, then TBC reserve the right to remove the
offending content, or in extreme cases, the entire
account. Should it be necessary to remove a
paid member's entire account due to a flagrant and
persistent breach of these terms and conditions, no refund
of the paid membership will be offered - any membership
fee paid would be considered forfeit due to the breach of
these terms of service.
